“Layers of Me” is a visual autobiography — a collection of paintings and drawings that peel back the many sides of my existence as both a medical doctor and a visual artist living in Nigeria.

As a doctor working in dermatology, I encounter the human skin not only as an organ but as a vessel of identity and confidence. Many of my patients live with conditions that alter their appearance and, in turn, their self-esteem. Through art, I aim to give their stories visibility, to transform what is often hidden or stigmatized into something seen, understood and celebrated for courage.

“Layers of Me” invites the viewer into an immersive experience on diversity, identity, and the evolving idea of beauty. It challenges the relentless pursuit of perfection and asks us to redefine what it means to be normal, to be beautiful, to be human.

“Layers of Me” is not just cultural and educative, it is about identity and vulnerability, the transformation of self-image, the healing of self-esteem, and the collective awakening to a beauty culture that honours difference and authenticity

Through this body of work, I hope to inspire conversations around beauty, self-worth, and acceptance, reminding us that beneath every layer lies a story worth understanding.
